About
Ballet Creation Workshop is a cutting-edge ballet creation form based on dance workshop. It integrates many young people's vanguard thinking and release without restraint, which forms novel and unique highlights of modern ballet. This is the new attempt made by the National Ballet of China for cultivating young ballet choreographers in recent years, which aims to seek after sustainable development in favor of ballet creation by means of "modest spur to induce others to come forward with valuable contributions". When tapping into its own potential and cooperating with directors representing different schools, National Ballet of China also opens up an excellent stage for young actors to grow mature and demonstrate personality.
In view of the performance at NCPA, the National Ballet of China specifically chooses the classic ballet drama The Firebird with pioneering spirit and revolutionary quality, which is created by Maurice Jean de Berger. Such performance will jointly make its debut with latest works created by young ballet choreographers of the National Ballet of China. Among them, Sometime in Somewhere (Zhang Yixiang), Passing (Wang Qi), Striking Bell (Wang Sizheng) and Letter to My Wife (Zhang Zhenxin) will be staged with works created by Master Maurice Jean de Berger on the same stage, with a view to a dialogue spanning over time and space and echoing the same theme: In order to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the CPC and the Centennial Anniversary of Xinhai Revolution of 1911, it is necessary to follow the theme of "carrying forward revolutionary spirit and innovation in continuing with the past and forging ahead into the future", bring imagination into full play, and dance with full emotions.
Performer :National Ballet of China
National Ballet of China (NBC), the only Chinese national ballet company was founded in 1959. Pyotr Gusev, the celebrated Russian ballet master laid a solid foundation of classical ballet for the company. Today, in its repertoires, there are dozens of full length ballets, including Swan Lake, Giselle, Don Quixote, Le Corsaire, La Sylphide, Sylvia and others classical ballets. In the past 20 years, especially since the 1990s, the company has staged many contemporary works of ballet such as Serenade, Etude, Four Last Songs, Rite of Spring and also modern dances.
National Ballet of China has successfully utilized ballet - an art form from the west - to depict the lives of the Chinese people. The Red Detachment of Women, Lin Daiyu and Raise the Red Lantern have been highly acclaimed domestically and internationally. Among others, Yellow River and Butterfly Lovers are appreciated repertories as well. There outstanding ballets established a foundation for creating a ballet style uniquely Chinese. The National Ballet of China has successfully toured around over 30 countries and regions like Britain, U. S. A., Russia, France, Denmark, Italy.
