An art exhibition featuring the guqin, a seven-string plucked instrument like a zither, has opened in China's National Center for the Performing Arts.

Walking down a cobbled alley through bamboo wood, visitors see three sets of guqin. Together they tell us how the guqin's shape has changed over time. In the center of the room is a copy of a famous ancient guqin, the one that was used in the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The partition walls show an artistic concept of plum blossoms on a snowy day.

Here Chinese traditional culture and modern art seems to blend together. Apart from appreciating the serene music of guqin, visitors can attend lectures to learn more about guqin.
