Artist's exhibition offers new take on Western masterpieces
Oil painter Xie Nanxing's solo show at Beijing's Ullens Center for Contemporary Art is, in his words, a kind of "personal travel diary" of visits to art museums in Europe.
The exhibition consists of a new cycle of seven major oil paintings through which the Chongqing-born artist explores his own relationship to European art history and iconography.
