Mukamu is the refined Classic music of the Uygur Ethnic Minority group and is the local name for large music suite. It is a gem in the music treasure created by the Uygur people and is regarded as the Pearl of Oriental Music.
The Xinjiang Mukamu Art Troupe was established in 1989. Since its establishment, the Troupe has put on stage a great number of Mukamu performances, folk song music and dances and ethnic music orchestra performances. It has also sorted out and dubbed albums of 12 (sets of) Mukamu music. The representative works of the Troupe include traditional national performances Qiebiyate Mukamu and Wuzhale Mukamu, classic Mukamu music dance Loulan Beauty and Uygur opera Legend of Mother.
The Mukamu Art Troupe has paid visits to Britain, Pakistan, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Iran, Sudan, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia, Japan as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan regions, where its performances got great success.
Currently, major artists of the Troupe include Tunisa (first grade artist, representative work: Mukamu and Folk Singing), Resha Laiti (first grade artist, representative work: Mukamu and Folk singing), Wusiman(first grade artist, representative work: Mukamu and Folk singing), Nuer Maimaiti (first grade composer, representative work: Great Beijing) and Maiti Rouzi (first grade composer, representative work: Mukamu Script).
