Art Troupe of the Political Department of Xinjiang Military Region

The origin of the Art Troupe was the Propaganda Team of the 359th Brigade of the 8^thRoute Army which was founded in December 1946. In the 1970's, it was divided after expansion as the Song and Dance Ensemble and the Modern Drama Troupe attached to Urumqi Military Region. The two were merged later as the Art Troupe of the Political Department of Xinjiang Military Region.

During the war times, in the smoke of gunpowder, the artists of the older generation of the Troupe performed operas The White-haired Girl, Yang Yong Renders Meritorious Service, Blood and Tears with Hatred and song and dance drama Brother and Sister Opening up Westland etc. Forty years and more, a large number of dances, music and operas known at home and abroad, e.g. Under the Grape Trellis, Tea with Milk Dance, The Night of the Grassland, A Remote Place, As Red as Two Brothers, Xinjiang Fine, The Most Beautiful is Our Xinjiang, Ode to Kunlun Mountain, In the Deep of Tianshan Mountain etc. have been created and performed. Members of the Art Troupe have paid performing visits many times to the countries of Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, India, Burma, Russia, Kazakhstan, Czech, Slovak, Japan, Chile, Cuba, Turkey, Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan, etc., and the region of Hong Kong. Well-known artists-in-Residence include singers: Li Shuangjiang, Kerimu, Hamiti, Garmila, Xiamili, Baharguli, Dalielihan etc., dancers: Fang Jinji, Sun Ling, Yang Zuquan, He Mengdao, etc., composers: Wang Luoban, Tian Ge, Yan Picheng, Liu Shuming etc., words writers: Guo Zhengwei etc., modern opera performers: Kong Zhaotian, Chen Yingming, Li Yingjie etc., famous directors: Bai Zhenqing, Qiu Jixing, player: Li Datong, stage art designer: Yuan Chou, Liu Deheng etc.
