Advance Guard Modern Drama Troupe of the Political Department of Jinan Military Region

The Advance Guard Modern Drama Troupe of the Political Department of Jinan Military Region, previously known as the Art Troupe of the Political Department of Shandong Military Region, was established in May 1949. Its successive presidents include Ren Xianzhang, Fang Zheng, Zhang Zhan, and etc. Xun Yang and Li Jing are the current presidents.

For 50 years, the Troupe has produced dozens of modern dramas and plays, which have won a number of awards in national and all-Army competitions. The modern drama Xu Honggang was awarded the 4th Chinese People's Liberation Army Art Award, Special Award of the All-Army New Drama Competition, Cao Yu Drama Literature Award, and the Golden Lion Award of Chinese Modern Drama; modern drama The Veteran was awarded the First Prize of the 3rd All-Army New Art Works Competition, Prize of the Chinese Modern Drama's 90^thAnniversary Competition, Nomination prize of the Cao Yu Drama Literature Award, New Play Award of the 8^thWenhua Award of the ministry of Culture of China; short play When the Sleep Bell Rang was awarded the First prize of the 2nd All-Army New Art Works Competition and the 7th Chinese People's Liberation Army Art Award.

The Troupe has co-produced a number of films, e.g. Fight from North to South with Shanghai Film Studio: Mine Battle, The Red Youth, The Veteran, Two Little Soldiers with August First film Studio. In the recent two decades, the Troupe's TV art Center devoted itself to the production of military TV plays, among which series like Brilliant Days, Daughter of Han, Soldier, A Young Special Agent, Son of Mengshan Mountain, Jinan Campaign, have won Golden Star Award, Feitian Award, Golden Eagle Award, and etc.

Now, the Troupe has many famous artists including Sun Ying, Shi Xiaozeng, Zhang Jielin, Yin Xihua, Chen Zhibin, Hu Zongqi, Zheng Fangnan, Liu Dianzhou, Liu Shuzhen and Liang Yiqiang.
