Drama Theater of Shanxi Province

The Drama Theater of Shanxi Province was established in 1953 on the basis of the Lu Liang Drama Society of Lu Liang Region of the 8th Route Army.

During the past decades, the Theater has performed over 500 domestic and foreign operas, plays, modern dramas and children's plays. Masterpieces include: "Same as Enemies"(a first prize winner of the lst China National Drama Festival); "Liu Hulan", performed in the Great Hall of the People and was highly praised by Premier Zhou; The Soul of Yellow River"(a second prize winner in the performance to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China; children play Zhu Xiaobin"(excellent performance prize winner in the lst China National Children Drama Festival); "Misty Life" (a winner of performance prize in the lst North China Drama Festival); "Living Like a Widow(Second Shanxi Artists Golden prize winner ); "Bounden Duty which was awarded as the excellent play by the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Culture; "Kong Fansen" (Wenhua Award winner).

During the long period of art practice, the Theater boasts prestigious artists such as: Yang Wei, Meng Tao, Wang Fuding, Zuo Xiaolin, Li Lin,Yan Fei, Chen Rong, Guo Jian, Guo Jiling, Sun Wei, Yao Dasan, Qiu Ping, Cui Chao, Chang Wenzhi, Dou Bing, Chen Xizhen, Chen Gong, Ren Dao, Huang Dajiang, Zhang Densqiao, Li Shiling, Yu Qun, Wang Zhenghua, Fang Jinxian, Li Jinglian, Zhou Ximeng, Yang Wukui, Wang Xingzheng and so on. The Theater also has a group of young and middle aged artists such as: Wu Yanzhu, Shi Qifang, Wang Dade, Lu Runze, Xie Kang, Zhang YongIin, Zhmg Yibing, wei Jigong, Jia Yinde, Yang Mansheng, Ma Lian-un, Shi Lianjia, GuoYuxiang, Liu Yaming, Zhang Zhizhong and etc.
