Modern Drama Troupe of Tibet Autonomous Region |
The Modern Drama Troupe of Tibet Autonomous Region was founded in July 1962. Since its founding, the Troupe has staged over 150 dramas. The representative works include Story of the Potala Place, Yi Weng Ma, Ahgu Dunba, Strong Brtsan Sgam Po, Lover Story in Yalong, Shared Kitchen, Looking for the Tanggula Mountain; playwright Tian Han's Princess Wencheng, William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet; excellent plays such as The Lang March, Baby Forbidden to be Born, Bloodshed over Cherry Blossoms, and 'When the Maple Leaves Turn Red. Among them, Story of the Potala Place won as many as 16 awards including the Wenhua Awards for new play, direction, performance issued by the Ministry of Culture and the prizes for best script, best director, best actor, best stage design at the Second Southwest China Drama Festival, Drama Strong Brtsan Sgam Po won the 1981 National Ethnic Peacock Cup Award; Love Story in Yalong and Love Stories Under the Scripture Streamers respectively won the Eighth National Ethnic Script Peacock Cup Silver and bronze awards. The troupe has altogether won 60 awards and prizes both regional and national levels.
Major artists of the Troupe include Dawangdui (first grade actor, the representative work Serfs), Duobujie (first grade actor, the representative work Romeo and Juliet), Zhaxi Dunzhu (first grade actor, the representative work Strong Brtsan Sgan Po) and Pulu Ciren (first grade director, the representative work Ahgu Dunba).
