Modern Drama Troupe of the Air Force Political Department

The Modern Drama Troupe of the Air Force Political Department was founded in March 1950. In the 1950s, the troupe staged such dramas as Younger Generation, Young Eagles, Guards in the Neon Light and Women Aviators. Over the recent 20 years, the troupe has staged such prize-winning dramas as Chenyi Takes the Bull by the Horn, Soaring to the Clouds from here, Warm Heart, Triumphant Return at Midnight, Love over the Snowy Mountains, Clouds Far and Near and September 13 Incident, Zhou Yu Taking Commander, Flying to Yan'an, Special Barracks, Gan Ba La, Xiangjiang River and Wings of Peace. Since 1983, the troupe has engaged in TV series production, such as Emergency Take-off, Forced Take-off, Special Barracks, Sun Seekers, Story of Dudu, Sun and Goddess and won relevant China TV series Feitian Awards.

The drama troupe has fostered a large number of artists including screenplay writers Wang Gui, Lu Jie, Shi Tao, Wang Jian, Li Dongcai, Wang Xiangling and Shang Jing; famous actors Song Min, Wang Ren, Liu Dianchen, Han Xiuli, Gu Lan, Yang Zichun, Kong Xianquan, Fu Xuecheng, Wang Liyuan, Bo Guanjun, Gong Jinghua, Lu Jixian, Bai Zhidi, Wang Xueqi, Xiao Xiong, Wen Yujuan, Guo Xuxin, Wu Jing'an, Yang Shuquan, Chen Jin, Ju Xue, Hu Yajie, Hong Jiantao, Liu Yi, Niu Li and Yang Qing; choreographer Dai Yannian, stage directors Ruan Qingxiang and Hou Gouliu.
