Advance Modern Drama Troupe of the Political Department of Shenyang Military Region

The Advance Modern Drama Troupe of the Political Department of Shenyang Military Region was formed out of former Modern Drama Companies of the Military Regions of North China, Northwest and Northeast. The Troupe has created a large number of artistic works that reflected the struggle life in the troops and song the praises of model soldiers and also made a great influence. The representative works of the Troupe have full-length modern dramas Growing up in Fighting, Lei Feng, Up North, Grand General Peng, Empress Dowager Re-marrying, Marching to the Year 2000, Sacred Love, Su Ning, Gone with Snow Flakes, Quaking Gun etc. which have won grand prizes for many times. Of these, the drama Lei Feng was performed in the Huai Ren Hall of Zhongnanhai, and the players were received by Chairman Mao, Premier Zhou, Chen Yi and other revolutionaries of the older generation. The work Quaking Gun won the New Program Prize of the whole army, the Excellent Program prize in the 90th anniversary of modern drama of China, Wenhua Prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Xao Yu Dramatic Literature Prize.

Through the artistic practice of several decades the Troupe has trained a large quantity of artistic talents. Among them are Tian Hua, Wang Xingang, Zhang Liang, Li Yan, Wang Runshen, Wang Xiaozhong, Sun Min, Zhang Yumin, etc. In recent years, on the stage appeared Wang Yuxiao, Lin Huachun, Zhang Shihui, Tian Yunzhong, Pang Zeyun and other young artistic talents.
