Opera and Dance Drama Theater of Heilongjiang Province |
Through long-term artistic practice, the Theater created and performed a great number of music and dance programs, which have a distinctive national style and strong rural characteristics and are loved by the people. Among them, The Boatmen's Song on the Wusuli River was selected as music teaching material by UNESCO for the Asian and Pacific Region. Songs like I Love You, Snow to the North of the Great wall, On the Sun Island, New Peddler, Song of the People from the Great Northern Wilderness and Cheerful Songs from the Breaking Waves became the excellent works, which won universal praises. Music works of traditional instruments Camel Bells on the Silk Road, Sketches on the Life of Nationalities in North China and Little Cabbage won grand prizes awarded by the Government. The large-scale national dance drama The Princess of Bohai Sea won the outstanding performance prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture. The large-scale musical drama Eagle won Wenhua Grand Prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Wenhua prizes on playwright, composition, stage art and acting. The Theater constantly undertook the assignments to organize celebration performances, for example, the large-scale art gala show Sun, Ice and Asia at the opening Ceremony of the 3rdWinter Olympic Games.
The Theater made friend performing visits and to Guinea, Iraq, Canada, DPR Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Russia, Japan and Hong Kong and Taiwan regions.
The Theater has nurtured and brought up a group of influential composers, words writers, singers, instrument players, conductors and dancers. Their representatives are: Guo Song, Hu Xiaoshi, Feng Shaoxian, Li Guangxian, Gu Jingnan, Xing Lai, Wang Wen, Liang Lan, Zhang Meiwei, Li Aping and Hong Xia.
