Opera and Dance Drama Theater of Jiangsu Province
The Opera and Dance Drama Theater of Jiangsu Province was founded in Dec.1956. For some forty years, the Theater has produced and put on stage a number of performances including native folk operas "Reed Catkins", "Fish Basket and Flower Drum and "Duan long"; large national dance dramas "Youth", "War Flames over the Sea and River", "Dream of the Red Mansion", "The Sunset Glow and "The 5th Sister(winner of the Good Program Award of National Dance Drama Festival Competition); large specialized evening show "Southeast, October, Gold Wind", "Good Children of the Party, Call of Peace; operas "when the Kapok Flower Blooms(winner of the Wenhua Award issued by the Ministry of Culture),"Sun Wu" (winner of the Wenhua Award);  famous foreign operas "The Courtier", "Lady Camellia and etc. Many of its dances, vocal music and instrumental music works won awards in various national and international competitions.

The Theater has paid several performing visits to Japan, the United States, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Singapore, DPR Korea as well as Hong Kong and Macao. Its performances were welcomed and highly appreciated by the local audience for its rich modernized and native characteristics, and the Theater is thus regarded as "A Cup of Fragrant Tea with Rich Flavor.

The Theater has a group of talented and influential artists including Gu Xin, the famous tenor singer and winner of the International Competition Special Award, the Plum Blossom Award and the Wenhua Award; Guan Weijun, first prize winner of the Jiangsu Provincial Vocal Music Competition (Nationality Singing Group); Zhu Changyao, famous Erhu player and winner of Good Performance Award in National Nationality Instrumental Music Competition and the lst Prize in Erhu Group; Yang Naizhen, famous Chinese Talk Show artist; Wang Litang, winner of the "Peony Award of the National Quyi Competition; Yuan Xiaohong, winner of the first Wenhua  Award issued by the Ministry of Culture and Huang Xiafen, winner of the Wenhua Award for Good Performance.
