Opera Troupe of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region |
The Opera Troupe of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region was officially named in 1973. The original name was Xinjiang Modern Drama Troupe, which was founded in 1952.
Excellent repertoires of the Troupe include the large-scale Uygur operas The Pioneer Benkamu and Gulanmuhan, won prizes of the Seventh Wenhua Award issued by the Ministry of Culture and seven excellent prizes in National Opera Festival; the large Uygur classical opera Ailizhuo-Sainaimu which won the prize of performance at the Minority Nationalities Opera Performance at the Minority Nationalities Opera Performance. Reflecting charming modern life, the Uygur modern dramas The Wedding of an Old Fellow and Marvelous Weddding, the Uygur musical modern drama Yunqianmu and the Uygur opera Mother and Son which won the prizes of promoting opera at the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Opera Festival. The Troupe also adapted some excellent theatrical works, such as Shakespearean comedy The Taming of the Shrew, famous Italian comedy The Servant of Two Masters and Chinese modern opera the Red Lantern. In recent years, the Trope has been invited by Japan, Kazakstan and Kyrgyzstan for guest performances and warmly welcomed by foreign friends.
The Troupe has a large number of famous playwrights, directors and opera performing artists. Among them are first grade director Nigarti Aikibeir, first grade actors Fatihua Malike, Makemuti Amuti, Walishi, Ainipa, Telakezi, Hailiquanmu; first grade playwright Mahemaitili Zunong, second grade composers, playwright and actors Akimbo Aishan, Tursunjiang Litipu, Nrudun and young actor Guzinur Kurban who won the prize of performance of the Seventh Wenhua Award issued by the Ministry of Culture.
