Guangdong Opera and Dance Drama Theater

The Guangdong Opera and Dance Drama Theater has staged such large-scale song and dance performances as The Liberation of Hainan Island, dance drama The Cowherd and the Weaving Maid, Pearl, Peony Pavilion, The King of the Southern Yue(winner of the Fourth Wenhua New Play Award, Guangdong Province Lu Xun Culture and Art Works Award, Guangdong Provincial Excellent Works Award in celebration of the 40th National Day); opera and dance drama Blazing Fire of the Torch(winner of the Performance Award of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the art troupes); medium-sized dance drama Ghost in Dream(winner of the directing award, choreography award, music award, performance award in 1988 Ram City International Dance Festival). Other dances include Ah Xi Dances in the Moonlight(nominee fo the 20th Century Finest Dances), Deer Looking Back, Drunken Beauty, Filature Girls,

Roaring Waves(winners of the First, Second, Third and Fourth National Dance Competition respectively), Traveler's Pavilion(winner of the First China Dance Lotus Silver Award). The Theater has also adapted some classics such as Fishing with Net, Spring Gongs and Drums, Love Across the Taiwan Straits, Soul of the Guangdong People, Fishing Season, Merry People in the Spring, Soaring Tigers and Dragons, Celebration, Soul of the Yashan Mountain, Wang Zhaojun, Drama in the Dream, Genaral Guan Yu Passes Five Strongholds, Tea After Lunch. All of which are prize-winners in various music competitions and restivals. The Theater has toured the regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as well as the countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australia.

The Theater's major artists with first grade professional certificates are Liang Lun, Zhao Shanfu, Zhu Youxia, Yu Qiwei, Wen Mingzhu, Yuan Zhaoxiang, Chen Xionghua, Chen Baokun, Huang Jiangqian, Li Suhua, He Wangbao, Tang Biao, Xu Zhaoxiong, Li Zhuxin and Liu Guoyi.
