Overseas Chinese media in the Grand Canal tour

Reporters from 21 overseas Chinese-language media in 14 countries and regions began their Grand Canal tour on May 3 in Yangzhou.

The media group watched a light show, a boat parade and an original opera performance on the same day and then visited the International Canal City Culture and Tourism Exhibition, part of the expo.

Wang Yonghong, president of a website in Egypt, said this was his second visit to Yangzhou after the first trip four years ago and he has witnessed the great, rapid changes in Yangzhou as well as in Jiangsu. Wang also said he will certainly share the stories in Yangzhou and Jiangsu to his friends in Egypt.

The Jiangsu Federation of Overseas Chinese also held a ceremony in Yangzhou to kick off an initiative that aims to pool global resources and help develop the Grand Canal Cultural Belt.
