Crafts people from Suzhou on Suzhou Embroidery, Chinese silk tapestry and Olive pit carving gave demonstrations on the spot. They would also provide workshops for the audience to participate for three consecutive days starting from Wednesday. Suzhou Fan and Suzhou-style New Year woodprint were also put on display.
Architectural parts and models of Suzhou-style buildings were also put on show.
Artists also presented performances featuring Suzhou local characteristics, including Pingtan Story-telling and Kunqu Opera. On Sept. 27, they will present a show in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China at the theatre in the cultural center.
Xiao Jianghua, Director of the China Cultural Center in Singapore, noted that Suzhou homes the first inter-governmental project between Singapore and China-- the Suzhou Industrial Park, so it's of vital importance for the people in Suzhou and Singapore to enhance mutual understanding.
