He also unveiled a new reality show, titled Strawberry Man, a band competition program, which will be premiered on Youku, the video-streaming platform affiliated to China's e-commerce giant Alibaba. About 30 new bands will compete for the opportunity to perform on the stage of Strawberry Music Festival.
Three groups of artists will join the company: singer-actress Annie Shizuka Inou from Taiwan and her husband, actor Qin Hao, electronic band Yu Fei Men, which just celebrated its 20th anniversary and rock band Jiulian Zhenren, one of the best-selling new bands in the country.
With a career spanning over the three decades as actress, singer, and writer, Annie Shizuka Inou, 52, surprise many fans when her name appeared on Modern Sky's artists' list.
"I've stopped releasing albums for a long time because I tried to work with different people and wanted to bring out different works. Modern Sky opens to collaborate with various artists, which is a big draw to me," says Annie Shizuka Inou, who was introduced to the company through Pang Kuang, a member of rock band New Pants. The band was one of the first rock bands Shen's company signed in 1997.
Besides indie rock music, Modern Sky has set its eyes on a diversity of music genres, such as hip-hop music, electronic music and world music.
During the recent announcement, the company launched four new labels. The total number of the company's branch labels is now 15. One of them is Modern Sky De, based in Berlin, works with crossover artists, such as photographers, designers and filmmakers. Another one is Midnight Romance, which promotes retro-electronic music.
