Established on September 27, 1988, the Chinese Cultural Center in the Republic of Benin is located at the Avenue Jean-Paul II in Cotonou City, with a floor space of 4,062 square meters. The impressive building features traditional Chinese architectural styles. It is the second cultural center set up overseas by China.

It boasts a library, movie theater, multi-functional hall, classrooms for language and cooking, training field for martial art, and open-air theatre.

As a platform for cultural exchanges between China and Benin and a window for promoting Chinese culture to the people of Benin, the center provides information on studying in China, books and periodicals, film screenings and holds reading salons. Training programs are organized all year round, including Chinese language, martial arts and shadow boxing, piano, dancing, acupuncture, cooking, paper cutting and other short-term training. The center hosts a series of cultural activities, including Happy Chinese New Year celebrations, lectures and seminars, exhibitions and performances. The center also assists in organizing cultural and artistic activities with Benin government bodies and other organizations.
