Dazu Stone Carvings are located in the Dazu County, about 120 kilometers away from the city center of Chongqing. The carving work began in late Tang Dynasty and saw its heyday in the Song Dynasty. There are over 60,000 statues all together. In 1999, it was listed as world cultural heritage by UNESCO.
The restoring works started on April 8, 2011 and will be finished in the first half of 2015.
