My name is Kurbanjan Abdusamat. I am from Xinjiang. My ethnicity is Uygur, and I am 32 years old. I have been in Beijing for eight years, and now I am a cameraman in CCTV, and also a freelance photographer. I spent one year to plan a series of portrait photos titled “I am from Xinjiang”, and I will continue to work on it. I shoot photos and write stories for people who are from Xinjiang and work in the inland. The stories are about them and also reflect my life. My dream is that “I am from Xinjing” will win people’s attention, and I hope the documentary can be continued, and eventually I hope through my hard work, I could provide material and spiritual supports to my wife who wishes to study overseas. This group of photos tells the most touching stories of people from Xinjiang who have left their homeland for many years. The photographer used camera to reveal their ordinary life to us. No matter how long they have left home, they cannot sever their bond with Xinjiang. Although they live far away from home; they never gave up yearning homesickness.
