衣(yī) Clothes
古文字“衣”上边是衣领,下边是交叉的衣襟,两边的就是衣服的袖子。古代“衣”的意思是“上衣”。现代汉语里,“衣”字可以指所有的衣服。

The ancient character yi looks like an ancient garment. The top part is a collar; the bottom depicts the front of a Chinese jacket; and the strokes on either side depict the shirt’s sleeves. In ancient China, yi meant garment. In modern Chinese, the character can refer to any type of clothing.
