Taiwan woman marries into Kazak family, 100 sheep plus a flat as dowry

2014-07-04 14:49:50

Taiwan woman Li Yongping got married with Harlech, a Kazak herdsman in Xinjiang. They held a wedding along the bank of beautiful Sayram Lake on June 30, 2014. As dowry, the bride’s parents bought 100 sheep for the couple to set up their own livestock-raising business and a flat worth 85,299 U.S. dollars. The groom gave betrothal gifts -- a Akhal-teke horse and two oxen - in return. Every male guest from the bride’s side received a Kazakh hat and a horsewhip, while every female guest got a piece of Kazakh cloth as gift. (CNS/Yu Mingjiang)
