How to protect a teapot?
Teapots must be cleaned to get rid of the wax, oil and dirt that collects on them, whether they are new or old. Don't use oil to clean the pot. The oil will be absorbed into the pot. Instead, brew some tea in the pot, then empty the pot and scrub it lightly with a soft brush, rinse it, then dry it lightly with a clean towel. Make sure to rinse out the tea leaves after each infusion. After the pot has been used for a while, the tea extracts build up and cause the pot to look like it has been polished. It shines like jade.
Prices
The price of purple sand teapots generally vary with the producer. The works of famous masters from the Ming Dynasty usually sell for about 200,000 to 350,000 RMB, and those from the Qing Dynasty sell for 100,000 to 200,000 RMB. Pots made by assistant craftsmen usually sell for around 1,000 RMB, and copies can be purchased for 100 to 300 RMB.
