This gold basin with engraved pattern is from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and one of eight pieces of gold ware of imperial concubines. The edge has a pattern of coins, jewels, rhinoceros horn and Lingzhi mushrooms, a medicinal herb that was thought to bring immortality in classical China. It also has an inlay of turquoise and coral and the bottom is decorated with three lotuses and two engraved phoenixes on each side.
