Chinese Acrobatic Ballet---Swan Lake

When talking about Swan Lake, a love story between a prince and a princess or the music created by Tchaikovsky will undoubtedly jump into our mind. However, the Chinese acrobatic version shows a different picture. The Chinese Acrobatic Ballet is a combination of the ballet classic Swan Lake and traditional Chinese acrobatics.

The breakthrough is that actors can perform more complex actions in the air, rather than confining themselves to the ground. For instance, the loveliness of the ballet will be more impressive when a group of monkeys performed by skilled actors jump forward through a steel cable. With the combination of the ballet classic and many unique acrobatic performances, the play has won great applauses from audiences.

The plot of the acrobatic ballet Swan Lake is slightly different from that of the ballet classic. Four swans that the prince meets on his way are replaced with four little frogs, which are naturally acted by four boys. In order to make it more interesting and difficult, the four boys perform handstands on the stage. The "upside down ballet" is amazing and arouses more interest from audiences.

The Acrobatic Ballet Swan Lake is full of magic, which has become an important theater means to connect and move forward the play. There are a lot of examples. At the very beginning a white swan flying in the forest suddenly metamorphoses into an incredibly pretty girl; when the prince tells the four frogs that he's looking for a white swan, they immediately changed into four lovely swans; and the "magic scarf" of the king of eagles is more powerful as well as romantic, because when his magic works, larges pieces of feathers will fly directly to the stage from every corner of the theater.
