Works of art manifesting the great achievements from the founding of New China to the present will go on display at a grand exhibition at the National Art Museum of China. The show is set to open on August 21.
The exhibition takes a retrospective look at the artistic achievements of Chinese fine arts over the past six decades. On display will be 687 items, some of which are on loan from major provincial museums and galleries. There are also masterpieces from private collections.
The subjects portrayed in the exhibits cover a wide range from the grand ceremony of the founding of New China, and China's opening up thirty years ago to the splendid scenery of the country, and the upbeat spirit of the Chinese people.
Director of the National Art Museum of China, Fan Di'an said at a press release that the show also includes comic strips, poster art, and New Year pictures, which are a traditional art form in China's folk culture, meaning "good-bye" to the past and "hello" to the new.
The exhibition runs till September the 14th.
