The National Children’s Art Theater has prepared something special for the new year holidays. In the coming month, several plays will feature traditional Chinese virtues on the stage. The opening show Chinese Stories In Your Pocket has just opened.
Chinese stories in your pocket tells the everyday life of the Xiong family.
Five classic bedtime stories are cleverly incorporated into the play, teaching kids about traditional virtues such as bravery and modesty.
In Cao Chong Weighs the Elephant, kids are taught to think outside the box when encountering tricky problems.

And after seeing Si Maguang break the jar to save his friend from drowning, children will learn the value of bravery and helping others.
The combination of classic stories and modern staging has surely captivated the young audience.
Chinese Stories In Your Pocket will be staged till the end of January.
It will be followed by a variety of performances, including the drama series Journey to the West and a musical about the national hero Yue Yun.
