Return Home, the first original opera of Jiangxi, tells a heartbreaking story on the veterans from Taiwan region who unswerving return home, and crystallizes millions of veterans’ endless homesickness, the twists and turns of the path for returning home and the Taiwanese veterans’ perseverance. This opera is characterized by different artistic temperament. Its melody refers to Mother, Where Are You and Looking Homeward and other songs of the 1930s, for which veterans are familiar with. This opera not only contains local musical elements of Jiangxi (such as folk song of the south Jiangxi Tune for Awaiting My Husband), but also the Asian pop music and the popular music created by Yanni. Therefore, this opera not only triggers nostalgia, but also demonstrates modern sense and internationalized charm.
