As part of the ongoing China Shanghai International Arts Festival, artistic directors from around the globe are gathering in the art hub to give suggestions to young artists. It's part of the week long "Rising Artists' Works" Program.
The theater says seven young artists were invited to a show that the author says is based on her own life in big cities like New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Beijing. A dance represents the dilemma of being caught between the fast pace of city life and the pursuit of inner peace.
Another suggestion that foreign mentors offered to young artists was not to ignore the old ways of doing things.14 young artists are showing works that were commissioned for this year's festival. They are among about 160 performances to be put on this week.
