Safflowers
( 2005-09-13 )

Along the sides of National Highway 218, the safflowers (or popularly known as red flowers), from at least several mu (1 mu equals 667 square meters) to dozens of mu at most, connect with each other to form a unique landscape in the depths of the Tianshan Mountains.

The early summer is the best season to visit the Tianshan Mountain grassland. At Kunas Grassland, stretches upon stretches of Tianshan Mountain safflowers flutter in the wind, together with the dotted Chinese small irises and flocks of cattle and sheep, adding more charm to the boundless grassland.

The edible oil extracted from safflowers can help to invigorate the circulation of blood, stop aches, cool blood, enrich the blood, and so on. Its flowers have a good curative effect on hematemesis (blood function), maculadiseases, amenorrhea (absence of menstrual period), postpartum hemorrhage (post-childbirth bleeding), and bellyaches as well as injuries from falls.
