National Unity Tripod for Xinjiang's 50th Birthday

Chinese central government delegation has sent abronzetripod to the government of northwestXinjiangUygur Autonomous Region for the 50th anniversary of the region's founding on Saturday.

Luo Gan, head of the delegation and a senior Communist Party official, and Wang Lequan, Communist Party chief of Xinjiang, unveiled the tripod inscribed with its name written by Chinese PresidentHu Jintao-- "National Unity Tripod".

Vice-PremierHui Liangyusaid at the ceremony the tripod represents the friendship of all nationalities in Xinjiang and congratulations of the 1.3 billion Chinese people for the region's birthday.

He added Xinjiang's 50-year-long history demonstrates the importance of unity in the multi-nationality family.

Wang Lequan returned the gift with an arras depicting scenery of Tianchi, a famous scenic spot in Xinjiang.
