In this photo exhibition, the concept of a ‘still life’ must be conceived as a selection of meditative images on the Chinese reality. The seemingly frozen objects of Huang Lei, the surreal compositions of Hong Lei with quotations from the classical Chinese art, or the graphical symbolism of Ling Hua might all be considered as most resembling what we know was a ‘still life’. However the photos of scale models by Xing Danwen should also be seen as such.
Minimalism, repetition and conceptualism are the ‘means of production’ from Li Yongbin, Hong Hao, Mo Yi and the artist duo RongRong & inri. From the opposite perspective, Ruan Xiaorong, Qiu, Xiong Wenyun, Zhao Liang and Adou create personal expressions by means of captivating images from rural and urban landscapes. 120 art photos from 13 photographers in a selection and production from the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, Beijing.
