Beginning August 11, more than 100 art pieces from the Louvre Museum will be exhibited at Beijing's Capital Museum. The exhibition, entitled "Louvre Museum Treasure Exhibition-Ancient Greek Art," will run through November 9.
Most of the upcoming exhibits feature ancient Greek sculptures, including busts of Aristotle and Socrates. About one half were created during the Classical period (from the 5th century B.C. to the 4th century B.C.), and another half during the Hellenistic period, when, following the conquests of Alexander the Great (336-323 B.C.), Greek culture spread as far as India.
The exhibition has three units. The first unit is "Living in Ancient Greece," the second one is "Religion of Ancient Greeks," and the third is "Great people in Greece."
