On August 7 in the U.N. building, the famous Chinese singer Tan Jing accepted the certificate of “Sino-American cultural ambassador” issued by Sino-American Culture and Arts Foundation and Sino-American Friendship Association. Tan said,” When I went abroad and deeply collaborate with artists from all over the world, I have always been considering how to open our national culture to the world, and eventually found it important to integrate national tradition with modern fashion, and combine international language with folk music.”
She added, national culture is the basis of musical culture, and different national cultures will give birth to various music styles, thus influencing the development of national culture. In her opinion, Chinese music should insist on its national feature “harmony”, and on that basis, add elements of the world to it. We should transmit our national music in the language and way that people in other parts of the world can accept.
