This was another major attraction. Hailed as "embroidery on ceramic plates" this delicate technique creates vivid picture on plates and can take months to complete a single piece.

The theme of the fair is "A cultured and beautiful Shanxi", and with over one thousand exhibition booths, there are more than ten thousand kinds of cultural products on display. Most are traditional arts produced locally. The fair offers a platform for local industries to boost their profile and their trade.

The week-long cultural fair saw over 200, 000 visitors experiencing the unique culture of Shanxi province. And it has also been a great business opportunity, with deals scored totalling 70 billion yuan. Exhibitors say they are looking forward to the next event.

Shanxi province produces the most coal of any province in China. It has long been famous for its rich resources. The local government has also been investing more in the province’s cultural industries. Many coal companies are also helping to develop the local cultural industries through their own investment.

Local officials say the annual value of Shanxi’s cultural industries has increased by 25% in recent years, which is higher than the country's average growth.

It's been four years since Shanxi Province began its cultural reforms. Many say the fair provides an important platform showcasing local cultural industries, which will not only promote more cultural communications but also boost trade and investment.
