CCTV co-hosts world congress

China Central Television's documentary channel will co-host the 22nd World Congress of Science and Factual Producers in 2014. It will be the first time the conference will be held in Beijing. The channel will unveil a series of activities during the conference, including a forum on Chinese documentaries' international promotion. The WCSFP gathers about 600 documentary producers, content providers, traders and scholars across the world every year to explore how science and history communicates to the world. This year's host broadcaster is based in Montreal, Canada.

Chinese paintings and calligraphy on display

More than 70 traditional Chinese paintings and works of calligraphy by nearly 20 master painters and calligraphers including Tan Changrong, Liang Shimin, Guo Ruyu and Luo Jixin are on display in the Jinluzhou Artistic College in Chengdu, Sichuan province. Their paintings feature flowers, birds, mountains, rivers and human figures, and works of calligraphy related to ancient Chinese poems. The exhibition, which is free, is part of the event celebrating the recent launch of the college, said Zhang Yijun, executive college director and former chief of the Temple of Marquis Wu Museum in Chengdu.

Performing group wins brand award

Beijing Performing Art Group won the honor of "Top 500 Asian brands" at the Eighth Asian Brand Festival, held in Hong Kong recently. Kang Wei, chairman of the group was awarded the title of "Top 10 Innovative Characters of China's Culture Industry". As the only performing enterprise being nominated this year, Beijing Performing Art Group has made remarkable progress since its establishment in 2009. The Asian Brand Festival has been held seven times by the Asian Brand Association together with five other reputable media. Culture enterprises like CCTV, Phoenix Satellite Television and TVB are also on the award list.

Experts discuss protection of ancient sites

The 3rd Joint Meeting on Innovation and Development of National Archaeological Heritage Park Academic Seminar was recently held in the Sanxingdui Museum in Guanghan, Sichuan province. Experts in national archaeological heritage parks from China, the United States, and the Netherlands participated in the meeting organized by the Sanxingdui Museum and the Jinsha Site Museum in Chengdu. They discussed how to protect ancient sites in the rapid economic development. The first joint meeting was held in the Daming Palace Site of Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907) in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, in 2011, and the second in the Old Summer Palace in Beijing in 2012.
