Emperor Yang’s tomb of the Sui Dynasty excavated

Two brick-chambered tombs were discovered in Caozhuang, Situ Village, Xihu Town, Yangzhou City in March 2013. In mid April, the epigraph of Emperor Yang from the Sui Dynasty was unearthed from the No.1 tomb in Yangzhou. Accordingly, experts considered this might be the tomb of the famous historical figure Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty. Whether it really is the tomb of Emperor Yang according to the epigraph is hard to say. Why is it an imperial tomb rather than an emperor’s mausoleum? Why are there so many mausoleums of Emperor Yang from the Sui Dynasty across the country?
