The players need to prepare a DVD for preliminary judging; from this will be chosen those who will participate in the live competition. The organizing committee will announce the preliminary results before July 31. The live competition will be divided into three rounds.

This year’s competition sets up six ranking awards and seven special awards to arouse the enthusiasm of students at home and abroad. The violin competition will respectively take place at Qing Dao Concert Hall and Qing Dao Theatre. The Qing Dao Symphony Orchestra will perform a concerto for the finals.

The China International Violin Competition is one of the three major international music events organized by the Ministry of Culture. The competition has been held three times in Qing Dao since the first was held there in October 2005.
