National Museum of China ranks 3rd in world museums

"Famous Museums, Famous Artists, Masterpieces" exhibition in  the National Museum of China.

According to the National Museum of China, the museum ranked third among the world's top 20 most popular museums of 2013 in a report from the Themed Entertainment Association.

The report noted that the world's most popular museum is the Louvre in Paris, and in second place is the American National Museum of Natural History in Washington, and third going to the National Museum of China. The American National Air and Space Museum, the British Museum in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.

In 2013, visitors of the National Museum of China reached a total of 7.45 million, an increase of 38.7% from 2012. Among the world's top 20 most popular museums, its visitor volume growth was the largest.

“Public attention to the museum has continued to increase this year,” said Chen lvsheng, Deputy Director of the National Museum of China. According to Chen, the the number of visitors for the exhibition “Famous Museums, Famous Artists, Masterpieces – the Exhibition about Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Sino-French Diplomatic Relations Established” hit 130,000 people. During the 56-day exhibition, on average there were more than 2,300 viewers daily. And on June15, the last day of the exhibition, the attendance number reached 4,500, making the exhibition one of the most popular international exchange shows since the museum opened.
