The Encyclopedia of Chinese Culture-Peking Opera Culture Exhibition will open in Bangkok China Culture Center on Aug 23. It focuses on the display of aesthetic features, classic operas, costumes and musical instruments from the Beijing opera art in words and pictures, real objects and videos, from which audience can comprehend the cultural connotations of different artistic aspects of Beijing opera.
Peking opera, or Beijing opera, is the most typical form of traditional Chinese theater and is considered the epitome of China as it epitomizes traditional arts by absorbing the best of many art forms.
Famous Chinese Beijing Opera artist Jiang Qihu will bring his Experience Beauty of Chinese Classics-Peking Opera Art Lecture to Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand. He will then elaborate on the aesthetic features of Chinese classical art to the young students. The Peking Opera Open Day activities and special performance of excerpts are also to be held in this university.
A series of activities entitled Face-to-face with Peking Opera Masterpieces will be held to promote traditional Peking opera art as well as the Chinese culture to the Thai people. These are among the special activities with the theme Promotional Activities of Chinese Ideological and Cultural Classics organized by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China. Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, is the first stop.
Women Generals of the Young Family and Peach Blossom Fan along with other two Beijing opera digital films will be released during the activities.
