Chinese director Mu Zijian's film "One Child" has made the shortlist of eight documentary short subject contenders up for an Academy Award.
"One Child" won a Student Academy Award in June for its look at the aftermath of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China.
After a second round of voting by all members of the Academy's Documentary Branch, three to five of the films will be nominated for the prestigious award.
The final nomination list will be released in Janurary.
