The Palace Museum signed a letter of intent for cooperation with the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) in Xiamen, Fujian province on Nov 23, with a commitment to cooperation on talent cultivation and resource sharing. Director of the Palace Museum Shan Jixiang and the director of the International Project Department of AAM signed the intent letter on behalf of China and the US. Song Xinchao, director of the Chinese Museums Association and deputy director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, attended the signing ceremony.

The Palace Museum intends to draw on the experience of AAM in museum professional training and strengthen training for museum professionals with the Palace Museum Institute of Gugong Studies as the training platform. The signing of the letter of intent will give full play to the Palace Museum in leading Chinese museums, and set up a network of museum personnel between China and the US that will promote cooperation between the two sides.

The American Alliance of Museums, founded in 1906, is the largest professional association of museums. Alliance members include all kinds of museums, such as art, history, science, military, maritime, and youth museums, as well as public aquariums, zoos, botanical gardens, arboretums, historic sites, and science and technology centers.
