Combat Modern Drama Troupe of the Political Department of Lanzhou Military Region

The Combat Modern Drama Troupe, attached to the Political Department of Lanzhou Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was founded in March 1947.

In half a century, the troupe has performed a lot of excellent dramas such as Bloody Enmity, Inveterate Hatred, Hero Liu Sihu, King Li Zicheng, The Wilderness, Growing up in the Thick of Fighting, Breaking Through the Darkness Before Dawn, Rendezvous, Female Delegates, Morning Sunshine over Moscow, Height 1211, Sixteen Rifles, Night of Mid-Autumn, Flying Side by Side, Capture Luo Zhenyuan Alive, March Third, Isle Nameless, Intimate Brothers, Prelude to the East March, Taking the Tiger Mountain by Strategies, Guards in the Neon Light, Piercing Bayonets, The Bay of Maple Trees, Beyond the Clouds. Among others, Beyond the Clouds fetched comprehensive award, choreographic award gathered and outstanding acting award during the Fourth All-Army Culture and An Gala Performance. The Troupe's modern drama Melody of Life won screenplay, directing, choreography and outstanding acting awards during the Fifth All-Army Culture and An Gala Performance. The Troupe's modern drama Melody of Life won screenplay, directing, choreography and outstanding acting awards during the Fifth All-Army Culture and Art Gala Performance in 1986. In 1996, the large-scale modern drama Snow on the Kunlun Mountain became the second Prizewinner of the First All-Army Culture and Art New Works Competition and in 1997 the troupe's radio drama series Cavaliers on a Long Journey won the top award during the Second All-Army Culture and Art New Works Competition. The troupe's Young Women Soldiers won the top award of the Third All-Army Culture and New Works Competition; that of China Population Culture and the Special Award of the Eighth Wenhua New Drama Prizes issued by the Ministry of Culture one year later.

Now the modern drama troupe is supported by such famous artists as Zhao Yulin, Wu Xiyuan, Huo Shican, Wang Lanwu and Yan Fei.
