Zhejiang Art Academy, a result of the merger of Zhejiang Art School and Zhejiang Film School on December 6, 1999, is the only professional and comprehensive art college in East China's Zhejiang Province.

The Xi'an Technical School of Music was founded in 1956 at the site of the school's music department, changing its name to the Xi'an Conservatory of Music in 1960.
Founded in 1958, the Tianjin Conservatory of Music was then called Hebei Conservatory of Music. It was set up on the base left behind by the Central Conservatory of Music when it moved fromTianjintoBeijing. The current president of the conservatory is Yao Shengchang, who succeeded the former president, Miao Tianrui.
