The Flag Acrobatic Troupe of the political Department of Chengdu Military Region was founded in July 1952. The troupe's trilogy Golden Breeze from Southwest, Charm of Ancient China, Beautiful Seasons were staged in Japan, the United States, Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg with great success. The trilogy was said by foreign acrobatic researchers to have helped greatly revitalize Chinese acrobatics. In the past 5 years the troupe has created a lot of new programs, which won it 29 medals in domestic and international aerobatic competition. In 1992, Small Pagoda of Bowls won the only Gold Medal for the first time child performer's merit in Monaco. In 1993, Small Jugglery won the Gold Medal of the Second National New Seedling Cup Acrobatic Competition. In 1994, Double Flying Swallows won the Gold Medal in the Les Huitieme et Neut Competition in France. In 1995, Ah Xi Jumps to the Moon won the Gold Medal of the Fourth National Acrobatic Competition and at the same year gained the Gold Prize at the Fifth National Ethnic Sports Performances and three years later won the only Gold Medal at the twelfth Future International Acrobatic Contest in Paris, France. In 1996, Two Persons Playing on Two Swings won the Gold Medal at the Budapest International Acrobatic Competition and one year later won the French Presidential Award, the highest award at the Paris International Acrobatic Grand Competition.

In 1997, Ah Xi Jumps to the Moon, Juggling with Bowls with the Feet High on a Bike, Double Flying Swallows, Girls Jumping the Board and Kicking the Chairs won five Gold Meda1s and the only Team Gold Prize at the April Spring International Acrobatic Contest in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea In 1997, Girls Jumping the Board and Two Persons on Two Swings won the Gold Prize at the First Viet Nam International Acrobatic Contest. In 1998, Girls Jumping the Board won the Bronze Prize of the Sweden Princess Cup International Acrobatic Competition. In the same year, it also won the Gold Prize at the Third National Acrobatic Contest for Children. In January 1999, Two Persons on three Swings won the Silver Clown Award of the Monte Carlo International Acrobatic Contest.
