Hanju opera, one of the ancient local operas in China, enjoys a history of more than 300 years. It has great influence on Beijing, Chuanju, Dianju, Qianju, Guiju, Ganju, Xuman Xiangju and Guangdong (Cantonese) Yueju operas. Wuhan Han Opera House grew out of Wuhan Han Opera Troupe (Chairman Wu Tianbao) in 1962. Chen Bohua, famous Han opera artist, acted as its first chairman.
