Inner Voice for two
Yange Drolma came to Beijing in 2006 and joined the Makye-Ame band in 2007. With her beautiful high-pitched voice, she soon became a lead singer. With the same dream for Tibetan music, A-Qia and Yange Drolma decided to produce an album together, using an antiphonal singing style.
To save money, the duo decided to do everything themselves, which means they needed to learn many things from scratch.
"When I saw so many clips lying on 20 different tracks on the software, I felt I was gonna faint," A-Qia laughed as he talked about his editing work. A three or four-minute video clip often took him a whole week to finish when he started and working overnight became common for him.
"We just wanted to make this album and sing good songs for people," A-Qia said. That was the faith that supported the two to keep on going at the hardest time during the two years when facing the lack of money, difficulties at work and the conflicts and disagreements on musical creation.
"If we do a good job in music, then we are fully satisfied. That’s all," the duo said, indicating that they don’t have any expectations concerning a profit; rather, the creation of music is what they really enjoyed.
