Separately, Wei Wei, principal dancer of the Hong Kong Ballet, and soloists, Xia Jun and Chen Zhiyao, will perform the pas de deux of Le Corsaire which is among classical ballet's most famous and performed excerpts, and the company's adaptation of British contemporary ballet choreographer Christopher Wheeldon's jazz-infused piece, Rush.
As for the National Ballet of China, its star dancers, including Wang Qimin and Sun Ruichen, will perform the second act of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, while legendary French choreographer Roland Petit's work, L'Arlesienne, set to the music by French composer Georges Bizet, will also be staged by the company.
