A memorandum of understanding to establish mutual cultural centers in China and Tunisia was signed on September 7, reflecting closer cultural ties between the two parties.

The deal was reached by Chinese Minister of Culture Luo Shugang and his Tunisian counterpart Latifa Lakhdar in Xi'an during an official meeting.

Cultural exchanges between the two countries have witnessed a rapid development during the past few years, Luo stressed. Last year was the 50th anniversary of Sino-Tunisia tie and a series of cultural events were held in both countries, strengthening the mutual understanding between the two peoples. As for the cultural centers, China would put great effort to establish them.

Lakhdar said that Tunisia is happy to see the growing cultural integration with China and appreciates the effort that the Chinese Culture Ministry has made. Tunisia would invite more and more Chinese artists and art groups to share their cultural creations in their country and would offer much support for the upcoming China Art Festival to be held in Tunisia.
