Ken demonstrates the cover of his self-made CD "Lijiang Blues" in the old town of Lijiang, southwest China's Yunnan Province, Nov. 8, 2013. Among the six albums he has recorded, three were made in Lijiang. Ken said this town has provided him with lots of inspirations. Ken Nilsen, a 57-year-old Norway-born Canadian, is a famous person in the old town of Lijiang. Despite his foreign-look appearance, he lived a life of Chinese style. During the daytime, he usually stays at his yard which is of traditional Naxi style, doing some drawing and writing. Sometimes, he rides his electric mobile of a Chinese brand to the town, drinking coffee and chatting with friends. At night, he plays guitar at bar and performs his original songs. He used to be an architect before retirement. But now he is more like a versatile artist, publishing illustrated books and making his own records. Among the many places he has travelled around the world, only this small town of Lijiang won over his heart. "Staying in Lijiang makes me feel at peace," Ken said. He has lived in Lijiang for over five years and planned to continue such life. (Xinhua/Ma Ping)
